The Glossier Executive Team Expands

The Glossier Executive Team Expands

I founded Glossier with the mission to inspire everyone to find joy and confidence in their personal beauty style. As I reflect on where we’ve been and what we need to realize our goals as a company, I think about our amazing team and all that we have accomplished in the past seven years.

After the last year and a half of navigating a global pandemic with both our internal and external community in mind, we are entering the next phase of Glossier. In the past three months alone, we’ve reimagined the Glossier retail experience, closed a Series E fundraise, launched new products including Monochromes and Universal Pro-Retinol, and backed our second cohort of the Glossier Grant for Black Owned Businesses. Our leaders play a critical role in shaping the growth and evolution of Glossier’s global brand and business as we build the future beauty company. I am incredibly proud of what this team has accomplished and know the best is yet to come.

It is with immense gratitude that I share that Vanessa Wittman, Glossier’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will retire next spring and become an advisor to the company. Vanessa has played a significant role at Glossier, most recently securing our Series E financing from Lone Pine Capital, and—as a five-time CFO—has paved the way for countless women in finance. To Vanessa, we are thankful for her countless contributions to Glossier, including her help in developing a succession plan that would, once again, set us up for success. This includes some key leadership hires that we are excited to announce:

Seun Sodipo will be joining us in February 2022 as our Chief Financial Officer. Seun most recently led Product Finance & Strategy at Stripe after having spent multiple years in private equity and mergers & acquisitions, and will lead our Accounting and Finance teams. Seun's strategic finance background, combined with fundraising and public market knowledge, sets Glossier up well as we continue to scale our business and brand. Seun will partner with Vanessa to transition the finance org when she joins.

Kyle Leahy will be joining us on November 29th as our first-ever Chief Commercial Officer. Kyle spent the past nine years at Cole Haan, including time as part of Nike Inc., in multiple Strategy, General Management, E-Commerce and Retail leadership roles, most recently as the Executive Vice President & GM of North America. Kyle will be responsible for driving revenue and building end-to-end customer experiences across channels. Kyle will lead our Retail, Sales, International, and Operations teams. Together with Kyle, Ali Weiss (our Chief Marketing Officer) and Pawan Uppuluri (our Chief Technology Officer) will be responsible for our online and offline brand, business, and platform.

Kristy Maynes joined us on October 11th as our Senior Vice President of Retail. Kristy spent the past 12 years at Lululemon in multiple leadership roles, including as the GM of the first 40 Lululemon stores in Canada and opening Lululemon in Europe. During her time at the company, Lululemon grew from $400M to over $6B in revenue. Kristy is building on the momentum of the Glossier Seattle opening in late summer, with our Los Angeles flagship opening this month and London flagship this winter. Kristy will lead our retail expansion with a customer focus around fostering connection, community, and discovery.

I am so excited to welcome Seun, Kyle, and Kristy to Glossier’s leadership team. Their strong values-alignment, incredible experience and backgrounds from diverse industries will be a boon to Glossier as we enter this next phase of our growth.
